Antecedent

Pronunciation: /ˌæn.təˈsid.nt/ Explain

An antecedent is the first of two statements in an "if-then" relationship (an implication): If antecedent then consequent.

Example

If the sides of a quadrilateral are perpendicular then the quadrilateral is a rectangle.
